HOW TO HAVE A GOOD YEAR

Every year when December 31st rolls around social media is flooded with everyone’s new year’s resolutions, which normally consist of ‘eating healthy’ or ‘being in the best shape of my life’. Have to be honest…. while I am not saying making these resolutions is a bad thing, I also wonder why we wait until the 1st of a new year to make these decisions?

Personally the best way to have a good year is by living life on a day-to-day basis, making choices and resolutions as you need. It doesn’t have to be New Years Day to have a good day or year. Start anytime…. Start any day. Only you are the one that can make those choices to have a good year, and only you are the one that can put these into action.

  1. Do Something New. Commit to something you have always wanted to do or something you have always wanted to learn. Want to join the gym down the road? Do it! Walk in, sign up and get started.
  2. Laugh Every Day.
  3. De-clutter. Clean that cupboard under the sink that you have been putting off for years (we all have that cupboard). De-cluttering your space will make you feel you have more order.
  4. Go outside everyday. 
  5. Be present in the moment. In the world of 2019 I can understand this can be easier to say than do. If you are with family or friends, put your phone to the side and commit to being present in that moment.
  6. Care for your body. You are the only person who will be with you for your entire life, so take the time to care for yourself.
  7. Don’t compare. In a world of instant ‘like’ gratification, remember social media is only someones highlights reel and isn’t their entire reality. Don’t compare someones edited photo to yours.
  8. Do what you love. Do you hate your job? Change it. Not happy with where you are living? Move. We have the power to change anything that isn’t fulfilling us.
  9. Be positive. A negative mind and personality only creates a negative energy. Think positive, even if its’ only for the little things. How lucky are we to be able to drink clean water, eat food and sleep in a warm bed? AMAZING!
  10. Treat yourself. Take time to go shopping, take yourself to your favourite cafe or binge on your favourite Netflix show with a glass of wine.
